Golden Hour Salt River Elopement | Maria & Cam

A Sunset Salt River Elopement—

This is exactly what Maria and Cam were hoping for when they decided to get married. As Phoenix locals, they were so hoping to elope in their own city, knowing the Valley has no shortage of gorgeous landscapes to provide naturally beautiful backdrops. They decided on Water Users along the Salt River because of its abundance of desert plants and towering cliffs that glow as the sun sets. This location is iconic for Phoenix locals (mostly because just about all of us have begun our river floating adventures here), and before tubing season begins, is untouched and intimate.

In fact, this is how Maria and Cam met. A large group of their mutual friends from church set out on a Salt River floating trip one spring afternoon a few years back, and both Maria and Cam were invited. If you’ve ever gone tubing on the Salt River yourself, you know this is a full day affair. The river flows gently in the East Valley, and with nothing but it to propel your raft, you’re in for a whole day of spending quality time with the people whose rafts yours is tied to. What a perfect way to really get to know someone 😏

This, of course, didn’t cross Maria or Cam’s minds as they set out on the Salt that morning, and, as fate would have it, their rafts ended up being tied to each other’s. Maria and Cam first got talking as she noticed his impeccable ability to nail just about everyone with marshmallows (it’s a Salt River thing), but things got deep quickly. Their friends very quickly realized what was happening between them and seemed to let these two be in their own little world. Hours passed seemingly quickly, and Maria and Cam quickly realized they never again wanted to be in a world without each other.

Post-river dinner at a local spot sealed the deal, and soon thereafter, Maria and Cam became official. Fast forward to this day, in the very place they met, as they exchanged vows. Petal Kissed Rentals designed a gorgeous floral arch to add to the already naturally beautiful location, and Maria and Cam exchanged vows as the sun set behind them. We spent the rest of sunset walking up and down the banks of the Salt River, capturing the glow of the sunset on the cliffs. Maria and Cam are both pretty introverted, so it was special to step back and let them have these little moments to soak in the gravity of the day. With minimal direction from me, they were free to love each other.

This elopement was so special, and in such a gorgeous and significant place for Maria and Cam. I highly suggest a Salt River elopement for you too!
