We’re Katie and Joseph!

And we are in love!!!!!

We met over a game of fishbowl in college. We both left that evening mutually disliking each other and hoping we’d never see each other again.

Fortunately, that’s not how the story ends. We found ourselves in the same friend group after that night and proceeded to spend pretty much every day of the next eight months together. We quickly realized we were actually the same person and went from being enemies to best friends.

In the midst of everyone pressuring us to “just date,” Katie moved to the east coast with every intent of leaving the little fling we had behind. As you can probably guess, that didn’t last long, and we were reunited on the Central Coast just six months later. After a few months of being (very annoyingly) on again and off again, we started dating ~ officially ~ while working in Dayton, and pretty much knew from that moment on we were together forever.

We got married on the Fourth of July the next year and have been living a life that gets more and more entertaining everyday (seriously, there is never a dull moment)!

When we’re not behind a camera, you will probably find us eating Chick Fil A, breakfast ideally. If we’re traveling (and we’re big into traveling), we’re exploring a new national park or maybe even trying a hike that is far beyond our physical ability. When we’re at home in Phoenix, we’re soaking up time with our community. If we’re watching TV, we’re binge watching all the content Guy Fieri creates, or cheering on our beloved Detroit Lions. When it comes to music, we love a wild mix of 90s country, dad music (our first concert together was Styx & REO Speedwagon), and rock.

We also really, really, really love Jesus!!!!! He’s the center of our relationship and what our life truly revolves around :)

We’re a husband & wife wedding photography team!

Our favorite part of the wedding day is the deep dive into a couple’s life we get to take (closely followed by the moment Mr. Brightside is played on the dance floor). Lack of vulnerability makes us wildly uncomfortable, so having a front row seat to these very intimate and personal moments truly fuels us. We’re not just showing up to take some photos and eat some dessert, we want to invest in you, your relationship, and documenting your wedding day in a way that reflects exactly who you are.

We are horribly awkward in front of a camera, especially when things feel stiff and posed. We tend to attract couples who are ~ just like us, ~ and so we’ve created an experience that celebrates your genuine selves.

The thing we hear most often is “we’ve never been in front of a camera before!!!”

We err on the side of documentary wedding photography, where you and your people are able to enjoy your time together and love on each other, rather than spend an entire day focused on taking pictures. Every time you step in front of our cameras, we want you to feel like yourselves and like you can relax!

Photographs are such an important investment, but we also believe the day you’re actually living while we’re there shooting is meant to be enjoyed.

We are here to laugh with you, cry with you, dance with you, and make your day feel as chill and fun as it can possibly be. You’ll end up with a gallery of photos that tells the story of how it felt to be there at your wedding and shows the adoring faces of everyone involved.

Why Weddings?

As professional photographers, we can make the subject of our images virtually anything. To us, weddings just hit differently. We are both big fans of being witness to the full spectrum of human emotion, and a wedding day certainly is full of just about every emotion known to man. We share a visceral passion for capturing those real, honest emotions as they unfold in real time, and preserving those memories for our couples.

Though we began our foray into wedding photography just before we got married, I like to think it was our wedding day that really drew us in closer to this job. After feeling like we were rushed from event to event, and even, at times, photo op to photo op on our own wedding day (so common of traditional weddings), we decided there had to be something better we could provide our own couples. That summer, we sat down and decided we wouldn’t be doing things the “normal” way every again. So, our deepest passion behind this job has become creating an environment for our couples to actually enjoy their wedding day, whether they choose the traditional route or an elopement.

We are the vendor our couples spend the most time with, therefore, it is our responsibility to make sure their wedding day doesn’t unfold as one giant photoshoot. Because we are wedding photographers, we get to truly become friends with the people who vulnerably stand in front of our cameras, and be another shoulder for them to lean on as they plan and then live the greatest day of their lives. In our opinion, marriage is such a sacred union, and deserves to be celebrated accordingly. That we are able to witness marriages begin every weekend is the highest honor we hope to never take for granted.

The biggest motivation behind owning our business is to serve others—

We want more than anything for our couples to experience stress-free bliss when they’re planning and living out their wedding day. Not only have we been in the wedding industry for a few years now, but we’ve also gone through the experience of planning our own wedding. Between the two of these, we’ve come away with a ton of knowledge about what do do (and definitely what not to do).

We’ve created a whole library of wedding planning resources for you to reference as you embark on this journey together, whether you choose us or not! This season doesn’t have to be stressful, and let us be the first to help make it this way~

Meet your new best friends!

If we learned anything from getting married ourselves, it’s that:

A) You’ll spend the most time on your wedding day with your photographer

B) Your day will be that much more incredible when you invest in a photographer who feels more like your friend, and comes alongside you in a supportive role on one of the biggest days of your life!

We understand we’re not the best fit photographers for everyone, but for those who do want us to partake in their day, we feel honored. Befriending our couples through this process is a dream come true for two extroverts, and we can promise a little bit of (professional) personality to match yours ;)
