Crescent Moon Ranch Sedona Elopement | Zach & Bryanna

An Intimate Sedona Elopement Surrounded by Red Rocks—

This is what Bryanna and Zach envisioned when they began planning their wedding. Originally from the southeast, Arizona’s red rocks were entirely new to them when they moved out west, and became something that fascinated both of them. Soon, their weekends turned into camping trips exploring every corner of this gorgeous state (see the many saved postcards sent from all these locations to their family members, used as table decor for their “reception” lunch!). Sedona quickly became a favorite place, for its miles of hiking trails, vibrant landscape, and unpredictable weather. Knowing neither of them wanted a big traditional wedding, Zach and Bryanna began brainstorming locations in their new(ish) home state where they could elope. Sedona was the most ideal place they could imagine, and as they narrowed their search, Crescent Moon Ranch stuck out as the perfect spot in the region.

Though Zach and Bryanna did not want a big wedding, they still wanted to include their immediate families and closest friends in their elopement. They wanted a casual day, and realized this was the first time many of their loved ones would even see Arizona. A single day affair turned into a full week. They rented a big house in Prescott, and all kinds of day trips were made all over, from Sedona to Page to the Grand Canyon. In the middle of the week of adventure, Zach and Bryanna reserved one of Crescent Moon Ranch’s ramadas to hold their celebration, and planned to exchange their vows on the big lawn in the middle of the park.

When they first came to us looking for an elopement photographer, Zach and Bryanna shared with us that, though this was their day, they hoped their wedding photos would feature everyone present and tell the story of the whole group celebrating together. The two envisioned an intimate first look, an emotional ceremony surrounded by everyone they love most, followed by an afternoon of play on the nearby trails and creeks. They wanted all these different elements captured as they felt, and we could not have been more excited that they chose us to photograph all of it.

And so for a couple hours on a warm May day, we got to follow Zach and Bryanna and their people around Sedona. We began with their first look along the creek in the shade of Crescent Moon Ranch’s lush trees. We all walked out together to the lawn, with Cathedral Rock rising in the background, for an emotional ceremony. We then followed the park’s trail network back to Red Rock Crossing for family photos and bridals. We then headed back to the ramada, where family members traded stories and barbecued lunch. An afternoon thunderstorm rolled in, capping off the ultimate northern Arizona day. We hope you enjoy this little collection of photos from Zach and Bryanna’s Sedona elopement—
