3Z Ranch Wedding | Phoenix, AZ
A rustic, national park-themed Phoenix wedding—
I loved every second of this one! Hannah and Tom were truly one of the chillest, most low-key couples I’ve ever worked with, and that made their wedding day a dream for all involved. Keep scrolling to see the way they look at each other :’). Their spring wedding at 3Z Ranch, just outside Phoenix, Arizona, was simple and naturally beautiful—
Hannah and Tom met on Bumble and pretty instantly knew they were made for each other. All their friends who knew them before this relationship thought their unique affinities for things like 5am hikes and running marathons were something they’d be hard pressed to find in a partner. But, God had a master plan, and they soon found each other, bonding over their hobbies and naturally falling into life together.
They have spent much of their relationship owning businesses together, and living out of an RV, travelling the United States, visiting the many national parks along the way. Their life has been full of adventure, and they actually intended to elope in Alaska when they first began planning their wedding. They had all their vendors set for last summer, and as they were telling their loved ones about it, they both realized they wanted to be surrounded by their closest people as they got married. This led them to completely scrap their elopement plans and opt for a traditional wedding instead.
One of Hannah and Tom’s favorite places in their travels has been the lush desert of Arizona, which made the foothills just north of Phoenix the natural place for their wedding. They chose 3Z Ranch for a number of reasons. The venue is perfect for an intimate gathering. Both the bride and groom are able to get ready on property, and every event of the wedding day can happen in relatively close quarters. The place really feels like a warm hug. They also were drawn to the landscape around it. The ranch is surrounded by cacti, and the ceremony space is centered perfectly with the nearby, picturesque Gavilan Peak. The overall rustic feel of the property added to the overall laid-back gathering Hannah and Tom were hoping to have.
As these two have spent much of their life adventuring, they chose a national park theme for their wedding. Their reception tables were named after their favorite national parks they’ve visited together, and they even included a camper photo booth to augment the adventure theme. Keeping with the desert look of 3Z Ranch, they chose a burnt orange and rust color palette for their accent pieces, and their bouquets and boutonnières even had small succulents and cacti in them.
Perhaps my favorite part of this Phoenix wedding was the attitude Tom and Hannah had toward it. They didn’t let anything stress them out, instead they simply focused on being with each other and their people. They were overjoyed with every little detail. This was made so clear in the way they looked at each other all day. As a documentary wedding photographer, I am always on the lookout for the little in-between moments that aren’t traditionally photographed on a wedding day. Hannah and Tom shared so many sweet, stolen glances, little laughs with each other, and were so easy to photograph in a fly on the wall way. These two simply love each other, and that was on tangible display all day long 🥲.
