Ole Hanson Beach Club San Clemente Wedding | Hannah & Kyle

A beachfront wedding in Southern California—

There was no better way to round out our summer season. Ole Hanson Beach Club has been on my wedding venue bucket list for years now, and I was so excited when Hannah and Kyle reached out to have us photograph their wedding at this very place! Hannah and I are friends from our old Cal Poly days, and we’ve been so fortunate to witness and photograph three weddings in this friend group already (the greatest compliment, truly!). After a year in Phoenix, we can very confidently say we will be at any wedding that will get us out of the Arizona summer heat at the drop of a hat, and when it’s one that is this aesthetically and emotionally beautiful, we feel very, very lucky.

We joined Hannah, Kyle, and their wedding party on a very warm and humid San Clemente afternoon. Kyle and his groomsmen, most of whom are his friends from high school, got ready at his childhood home, and it was so special to photograph the group in the very place they grew up and even got ready for school dances. Most of Hannah’s bridesmaids are our shared Chi O sisters from back in college, so it was a treat to spend some uninterrupted time catching up with them too! After everyone was ready, Hannah and Kyle saw each other for the first time on the stunning tile steps outside Ole Hanson Beach Club. I loved the couple’s motivation to get all of their formal photos done before their ceremony so they could really spend quality time with all of their guests the rest of the evening.

I love the way Ole Hanson backs up directly onto the beach, with its ceremony space close enough to the ocean to hear waves crashing behind it. When you throw a SoCal wedding, you cannot get a more iconic location (complete with the quintessential and oft passing Amtrak Coaster!). Hannah and Kyle were married under a chuppah adorned in gorgeous hydrangeas, a nod to Hannah’s native Boston, in a traditional Jewish ceremony during golden hour. Guests excitedly celebrated them after while the sun dipped into the ocean on the venue’s front lawn. I am so happy Hannah and Kyle had the chance to greet everyone they chose to surround them on this day! The photos of all the hugs are the sweetest.

Just before we lost the sun for the evening, we meandered down to the beach for the couple’s newlywed photos, and we were treated to one of the most golden, glittering sunsets I’ve seen in a long time. Guests made their way to Ole Hanson’s rooftop patio for dinner, and once we returned from sunset, Hannah and Kyle entered. I love September in Southern California for so many reasons, but one of the greatest things about this time of year is how long the dramatic sunsets last. The sky was aglow with so many colors as Hannah and Kyle shared their first dance and ate dinner with their family and friends. Blue hour lasted well into the evening, and the candlelit reception was the perfect compliment to it. After some special toasts, we headed inside for a high energy dance party, capped off by Sweet Caroline and a flurry of streamers.

We hope you love all of the big and little moments we were able to capture during Hannah and Kyle’s Ole Hanson Beach Club wedding!

A special thank you to the incredible team who made this day possible, some of San Clemente’s very best wedding vendors.
