Winter Engagement Sessions in San Luis Obispo, CA
Our Favorite Engagement Photo Locations in SLO County—
We spent a ton of time during our winter offseason taking engagement photos for our 2026 wedding couples, who enjoy a complimentary engagement session as part of their wedding photography packages! We love the opportunity to capture this once in a lifetime season for our couples, as well as the opportunity to give them a few hours to get comfortable in front of our cameras before their wedding day.
As we collaborated with our couples, I was so excited that they wanted to take their engagement photos in so many different, unique locations! We truly got to go on the grand tour of San Luis Obispo this winter, and I am really proud of the way we were able to capture both the variety of landscapes around the county, and the individual personalities of each of our couples. Collaborating with everyone to produce art that reflects who they are is one of my favorite things about our job!
When we photograph engagements, we use a system of prompting our couples, as opposed to static posing, in order to help them feel like themselves in front of the camera. As engagement sessions unfold, and we get to know the people in front of our camera, we are able to suggest prompts we feel align with their personalities. We also love to mix wider, landscape images with tighter ones, so we get a big variety of photographs that showcase the landscape and the people in them. When you’re in SLO especially, it is important to feature the beautiful place we call home 😉.
