Hilltop Ventura Engagement Session | Courtney & Jack

Some good friends and a chance to take photos in a new city? Count us in!

Let’s back up a little bit, shall we? We met Courtney and Jack last summer at Jack’s sister’s wedding, one that left us saying “I wish we could relive this day like seven more times” upon driving away. That wedding was intimate and full of wonderful, lively people who truly reminded us why we love this job so much. You can see that wedding gallery here! Dreams came true just a few weeks later, when Courtney reached out to me and asked if she’d be interested in shooting her wedding. As she elaborated on her plans, which includes getting married at a venue in San Diego that’s been a longtime dream of mine to shoot, we became more and more excited to spend an evening with all these people again!

Courtney and Jack live in San Diego, and in the midst of our very busy wedding season, and their season of planning a wedding and adopting a puppy, it was tough to find a time for us to travel all the way down south for their engagements. We came up with an awesome compromise, meeting halfway between San Luis Obispo and San Diego in Ventura for their shoot. We haven’t spent much time exploring Ventura, and better yet, have never photographed there, so we were so down for this!

We found an awesome hilltop park with miles of trails and sweeping views of downtown Ventura below, and the coastline beyond that. The sunlight was absolutely perfect for Courtney & Jack’s engagement photos, and two hours absolutely flew by as we hiked the hills, soaked in the views, and dodged all the high school kids taking prom photos at this wildly scenic park (lol). These two are such fun people, and after ten years together, they are so deeply in love with each other!
