Paso Robles Hills Engagement Session
Haley + Austin met the summer before her freshman year of college. She was still living at home in Orange County, and he was visiting from Kentucky for the summer. Haley worked at In N Out at the time, and Austin would come in all the time and write his number on the receipts she’d give him. She agreed to go on a date with him, and the rest was history. They spent the rest of their mutual time in SoCal falling in love with each other and learning about how much they had in common. They parted ways as August rolled around- Austin went back to Louisville, where he played college soccer, and Haley to embark on her new college journey in San Luis Obispo. For three years they managed long distance, visiting each other for long weekends, on breaks from school, and for holidays, filling in the gaps with FaceTime. Haley even spent a summer in Kentucky!
Two years into their relationship was when I met Haley. We moved into our sorority house together not really knowing each other, but this quickly changed. She was one of those people I felt like I’d known forever. We pretty quickly became close friends, and I would hear all kinds of amazing things about this Austin fella. He finally came into town for one of our formals, and we all had so much fun! He visited a few more times that year, and our whole group (we call ourselves the ‘Mates) just had a blast getting to know one another. At the end of that school year, I graduated and moved to North Carolina. Haley (and some of our other ‘Mates!!) drove across the country with me and everything I owned, one of our stops being Louisville. We packed waaaay too much fun into a three day span: bourbon tasting, real Kentucky fried chicken, a soccer game, Churchill Downs, riding a mechanical bull, and pontooning. Austin joined us in Nashville for the final night of the trip too! After that wild experience, I knew I needed these people in my life for good. Somewhere along the way Austin (and me, thankfully) found his way back to San Luis Obispo, this time permanently.
Haley and Austin got engaged after five years together the day after Thanksgiving, surrounded by her entire family. It was such an honor for us to (finally) capture their love. After getting postponed time and time again (thanks Corona), we made our way to In N Out for some classic photos (and dinner) to commemorate where this story began. We then ventured up into the hills outside Paso Robles and laughed a ton as the sun set behind us. We are so excited to witness them get married next spring, and to continue to deepen our friendship with two of the most important members of our community!
