Oceano Dunes Maternity Session | Will & Savannah
Every now and then, people come into your life at just the right time and change it for the better.
Will and Savannah are two of those people for me. When I met them while working at a wedding together last fall, I never believed that just a few months later we’d all be out at the Oceano Dunes for their maternity session.
Let’s backtrack a bit. I met these two one sweaty September afternoon at a wedding when I was really trying to get my stride working creatively. What I didn’t realize I needed at that moment was someone who saw and celebrated my eye, and gave me creative freedom in my job. I also was in need of encouragement from someone other than Joseph (he’s amazing, you all know, but for whatever reason my brain decided to invalidate his words of encouragement when it came to my photography?).
Will and Savannah were those people for me. Just two weeks after I met them, I was second shooting a wedding with them. That experience was so positive for all involved, they invited me back a few months later for another. That brought us to this point, having the absolute honor to photograph this special season for these two.
Will and Savannah are two of those genuine, kind individuals who are fearlessly themselves. They are humble and encouraging, and simply the kind of people you want to be around. These two work together so well in a professional setting, as well as when they are simply loving on each other. This season has been one of such anticipation for them, in just a few months they will be welcoming their first daughter together.
These two chose the Oceano Dunes for their maternity session partially because there is no more epic place for photos than this spot on the Central Coast. However, they mostly chose it because it has become a special spot for them. When the pandemic began and the whole world shut down, Will & Savannah began exploring more of this area they call home, discovering the Oceano Dunes. The two started making frequent trips to the dunes, spending evenings watching sunsets and climbing the steep, ever changing landscape around them. Just around this season, they found out they were pregnant with their little girl, too, so there is so much significance to this place and the role it’s played in this season for them!
