A Christian Cowboy Wedding in Paso Robles | Andrea & Alex

And at last, we present to you our final wedding of the 2022 season!

We really ended this past year on the highest of high notes, and are so glad we chose to include this one in our season. Andrea and Alex reached out to us at Thanksgiving for their December wedding, and by this point in the year, we were very booked up and ready for off season. BUT, there was just something about their inquiry that gave me the impression we needed to make room for their wedding. Andrea and Alex described their day as a “cowboy worship party,” and that tugged just about every heart string in my body. Meeting them a few days later over FaceTime was the icing on the cake, Andrea and Alex’s wedding day was one we simply couldn’t miss.

These two highly accomplished individuals met at Stanford through their campus ministry, and very quickly became best friends co-leading a bible study together. As time went on, they began to like each other, and, even after a very awkward series of events in which they tried to confess their love for each other, they ~ officially ~ began dating (YAY!! Our favorite kind of relationship, one that begins as a close friendship!!). Fast forward a year and here they are, getting married to each other!

They chose to have their wedding during winter break, as the day would involve their families and all of their college ministry friends. They chose The Loading Chute just outside of Paso Robles for its rustic and intimate vibe, the perfect compliment to the overall “cowboy” vibe of the day. This winter has been unbelievably rainy on the Central Coast, and, as such, the weather reflected the overall theme of this year. Rain. It was actually our very first rainy wedding we’ve ever photographed! (We sound so Californian, I know)

I really couldn’t have imagined this day looking any differently, however. The drizzles, combined with the gentle rolling smoke from the Santa Maria style barbecue slow cooking dinner created a truly unique scene. The rain remained at bay for the entirety of Andrea and Alex’s ceremony, which was very much focused on Jesus. The couple’s friends, also members of their ministry’s worship team, led everyone in a worship set as Andrea and Alex’s first activity as a married couple. It was beautiful and exactly how the newlyweds hoped to focus their day.

The rain did come down as the reception began, but we were all tucked safely inside The Loading Chute’s rustic barn. One element of the reception that did keep people coming outside, however, was the mechanical bull. We’ve never seen one at a wedding before, but now it’s up at the top of our list with bounce houses if there is room in the budget. What a fun way to get your guests to have fun!

We love any opportunity to make friends with couples we share a faith with, and to participate in their weddings, both as photographers and as brothers and sisters in Christ, is one of our favorite parts of this job. And so we ended 2022 with a bang. We could not be happier for Andrea and Alex and their Jesus-centered love!
