Mission Springs Barn Wedding | Michelle & Alex
We had the great privilege of photographing one of the first weddings at one of Paso Robles’ newest venues, Mission Springs Barn, last fall!
And only to make it greater of an honor was the high school sweetheart couple who got married that day, our friends Michelle and Alex! You may remember these two from their vintage couch engagement photos we took in San Luis Obispo in late 2021, and no less iconic was their wedding day a year later in Paso Robles! Of course, Rosie the couch was front and center at their wedding too, and made for a fun backdrop for photos throughout the evening!
Michelle & Alex’s Central Coast wedding day began at the Paso Robles Inn with a first look in the downtown hotel’s lush courtyard area, before heading up to Mission Springs Barn (which is actually in the neighboring southern Monterey County town of San Miguel). The venue is situated in a valley teeming with vineyards, and the property itself boasts stunning olive groves which are in full bloom in the summer and early fall, perfect for this October wedding! A large, modern barn that is the perfect combination of upscale and rustic is the main focal point of the property, and is flanked by grain silos that can be rented out for a wedding weekend or simply a wine tasting adventure in Paso Robles.
Michelle & Alex chose to exchange vows in a sunset ceremony in the middle of the olive groves, which is just about as dreamy as you can imagine (and if you can’t imagine, we have photos for you, keep scrolling!). Their three beloved huskies were their “dogs of honor” and also were the namesakes for their signature drinks. There is a reason September and October are the most popular months to get married in Paso Robles. The area is so well known for its mediterranean climate (aka, warm autumns) and agriculture (lots of wine, olives, and other things you’d find in places like southern France, Italy, Spain, and Greece), so this area really comes alive during these months! If you’re planning a wedding in Paso Robles, we highly recommend this time of year, especially if you’ll be getting married in a vineyard.
The golden light warmed up the lush olive groves just perfectly as Michelle & Alex were married by one of their best friends, also from high school. We could not get enough of the gorgeous scene, so after the ceremony, we took the newlyweds out into the groves for sunset bridals and some well deserved time alone to soak in the moment. With our last few moments of sunlight, Michelle, Alex, and their bridal party popped champagne and shotgunned beers, making for a very majestic and very characteristic collection of photos for these two and their closest friends.
After sundown, we made our way into the barn for their wedding reception which included many hilarious speeches (the least bit surprising thing if you know these two), lots of dancing, and all the photos with Rosie the couch. All in all, Michelle & Alex had their very own best day ever at one of the best new wedding venues in San Luis Obispo County, and we got to kick off Paso Robles’ harvest season with a bang!
