Bright and Candid Montana de Oro Engagement Session | Riley & Kevin
Riley and Kevin ventured from the Valley out to the coast to take beach themed engagement photos, leading to the most fun-filled adventure.
These two had never seen Montana de Oro before, and it was such a treat to show them all our favorite spots, even if they did involve a bit more cardio than any of us had expected. Their beach-themed engagement photo idea paired well with their equally adventurous wedding plans- to get married in a place that has become very special to the two of them throughout their relationship: Cabo San Lucas!
Cabo is more than just a vacation destination for Riley & Kevin- they both grew up racing off-road, and Baja became one of their favorite places to race and explore together! They also met during an off-road race- Kevin’s brother had to drop out last minute, and Kevin needed someone to be his co-driver. Some mutual family friends suggested Riley fill in, and the rest is history!
To add to the already bright and beachy theme we had on this stunning day out at MDO, Riley capitalized on the Mexico look by wearing a bright pink dress. These two were so easy going and ready to have fun, and the prompts we led them with so easily evoked the sweetest and most hilarious, candid reactions the whole evening.
We walked around just about every inch of Montana de Oro during their engagement session, from some of our favorite cliffs off the Bluff Trail to Spooner’s Cove, and even down to Hazards at the very end. Low hanging clouds diffused the summer sunlight perfectly, so we were able to be out in the open for most of the session without it affecting the quality of their photographs, too! To say it was a perfect day for an engagement session is an understatement :)
You’ve probably noticed we have been shooting at Montana de Oro a TON lately (something we will never complain about). One thing we really try to do is make every session unique- we don’t ever want our engagement session experiences to feel like copy and paste. We love the challenge of delivering a different experience based on each of our couples’ individual relationship and preferences, and photographing the diverse landscape in new ways that compliment the fun people who stand in front of our lenses.
