Enter Sarah and Brian and their golf course wedding at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. These two are the epitome of what we look for in our couples— laid back people who care so much more about getting married than their wedding itself, but also want their day documented in an authentic way that encapsulates the beauty of what transpired. And we simply cannot forget the part where we dance the night away right alongside them to celebrate when it’s all said and done ;). It’s people like Sarah and Brian who make us so grateful God has called us to document love stories every Saturday in this season of our careers.
I was struck by so many things from this beautiful wedding, but what sticks with me most every time I remember spending this season with this awesome couple was the way Sarah and Brian look at each other. We came away from their engagement photos in awe of how in love with each other these two are, having weathered many seasons in their ten years together. Their wedding day was no different (see their first look photos specifically, the love in their eyes is so palpable!!). Speaking of wedding days, let’s give you a little recap of their summer wedding at the golf course—
We walked into getting ready time with the guys and girls, the guys already having very much fun, and the girls excitedly awaiting the day that was about to unfold. Sarah shared a first look with her whole family, a sacred snippet of time with high emotion and so much love. I made my way over to the guys’ house with Sarah as she anxiously awaited the moment she’d see Brian for the first time that day. An even more emotional first look was one of the core-memory moments of that day as Sarah and Brian’s bridal party and family watched from afar. Every ounce of stress and anxiety melted away as these two got to soak in this moment, and from there, the party could really begin.
We made our way over to the SLO Country Club for Sarah and Brian’s golden hour wedding ceremony overlooking the lush, sprawling golf course. It began with a touch of fun, as groomsmen walked down the aisle tossing beers to excited guests. Personal vows recounted Brian’s “love at first yoga pant” moment with Sarah, and Sarah’s love for him “despite” his curly red afro when they met. We got to laugh and cry alongside this couple turned friends of ours as they exchanged vows and became husband and wife.
As golden hour settled in over San Luis Obispo, guests were treated to cocktails and passed appetizers. We were able to take all of Sarah and Brian’s bridal party and family portraits before their ceremony (as they did a first look), and so they got to spend the entirety of their cocktail hour celebrating with everyone they love (our favorite thing to see!!). Sarah and Brian and their guests made their way inside for dinner, with the giant windows of the country club’s event space treating everyone to views of the colorful Central Coast sunset.
After dinner and some hilarious and touching toasts, the part of the evening everyone had really been waiting for arrived— the open dance floor. This was one of, if not the most electric dance floors I’ve seen in the literal hundreds of weddings I’ve photographed, and when I tell you I came away with a good thousand photos of dancing alone, I do not exaggerate in the slightest. A small collection is included here for you to get a glimpse. We love leaving weddings with giant smiles on our faces, laughing as we reminisce the moments we got to share with our couples, and this is one that certainly left us feeling this way!
