An Intimate Wedding in Nipomo | Natalie & Michael

Natalie & Michael’s wedding was supposed to be a dream come true:

An intimate garden setting with their closest friends and family followed by a sunset stroll along San Luis Obispo County’s dramatic coastline, and ending with a romantic walk through a giant Christmas light display. All these dreams came crashing down on them when new covid lockdown orders forced their venue to cancel their wedding just five days before the day they’d been planning for years. Natalie & Michael, still determined to get married, chose to instead have an intimate wedding in her parent’s backyard in Nipomo, California.

Natalie and Michael are high school sweethearts and waited patiently for over seven years to finally exchange vows with one another. These two began much like we did: meeting and then quickly becoming best friends before falling in love with one another. These two have been through it all together: the tumultuous experience that is high school, followed by college and entering the real world. Sticking by each other’s side is the only way these two know how to walk through life, and after putting their wedding plans on hold for two years, they were finally excited to live as one.

We’re blessed to know these two outside of just the wedding realm. Back in my engineering days, I worked with Michael and never in a million years believed I would one day shoot his wedding. We learned these two were also members of our church, and Natalie joined the bible study I lead on Tuesday nights. Through fellowship, we got to know these two deeply. We learned about Michael’s tender side and Natalie’s incredible ability to throw themed parties. I was even one of the lucky few who got to celebrate Natalie at her bachelorette party!

Through forming deep relationship with Natalie & Michael, we became all the more excited for these two to finally get married. We got to be there for them when issue after issue arose, and got to sit and cry with them when their wedding was ultimately cancelled. Through every emotion this wedding planning season threw at these two, we could not have been more honored to be a part of their intimate wedding down in Nipomo!
