A Spring Disco Wedding at The Clovis Castle | Lexi & Conner
We’d been eagerly awaiting Lexi & Conner’s wedding for years.
LITERAL YEARS. You can read about how we met these two and proceeded to be the lucky ones to photograph their love here! So to say that this spring day had been a long time coming (honestly for all involved, Lexi & Conner have known each other since elementary school, more on that below) would be an understatement. Finally this day was upon us, and we got to enjoy the most beautiful drive out to Clovis (I am in no way being sarcastic, the rain did WONDERS for the scenery around Highway 41) before having our minds blown by the beautiful venue, The Clovis Castle, and accompanying STUNNING event design by Tying Knots.
Before we get to their beautiful Central Valley wedding day, let’s fill you in on how Lexi & Conner’s relationship came to be. Conner and Lexi have gone to school together since kindergarten, so technically this is where they met, however their relationship didn't evolve past an unrequited elementary school crush (felt on Lexi’s end) until after high school. The summer after they graduated high school, they sparked up a friendship that lasted through the next summer after freshman year of college when they decided to make things ~official.~ Third grade Lexi is screaming!! Though they just missed the title of 'high school sweethearts,' they learned good things are worth waiting for :’).
And so, fast forward to this gorgeous spring wedding day. There was so much emotion, as Lexi and Conner’s families have essentially blended into one over the many years of knowing each other. After getting ready, Lexi and Conner shared a very sweet first look followed by private vows we were very lucky to witness (and made very, very emotional by; what a way to start our 2023 wedding season). The ceremony that ensued was equally ridden with emotion, as stories both hilarious and endearing were narrated by one of Conner’s parents’ best friends. Once Lexi and Conner were named husband and wife, it was party time, kicked off by the bridal party taking a shot together at the reception space’s shot wall which doubled as a seating chart.
Payton from Tying Knots completely transformed the reception tent into a jaw-droppingly beautiful, modern spring disco event space, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. And party on everyone did. The toasts given by Lexi and Conner’s best friends, sisters, and father were absolutely hilarious and spoke of the sweet friendship these two have forged with each other and everyone surrounding them that evening. Special dances turned seamlessly into a dance party that lasted all night long (literally, every hour the DJ would call for a last song, and one of Lexi and Conner’s many friends would pay him to stay longer; naturally we too stayed all night).
When we thought about how we wanted our 2023 wedding season to look and feel, and then found couples whose vision for their wedding day matched ours while simultaneously becoming our friends, I would say this wedding was one we imagined. Lexi and Conner have long since left the moniker of “client” behind for a much more fitting one of close friends. We felt so much a part of the party and completely free to take creative freedom over the photographs that document it. This Clovis wedding has absolutely set the tone for the rest of our year, and we are so grateful to have begun yet another season beyond our wildest dreams celebrating the Mahaffys.
