Cambria Engagement Session | Geoff & Avalon
Just before Geoff & Avalon got engaged, they faced a tremendous amount of change together.
Before their intimate proposal, before this stunning Cambria engagement session, their life looked quite a bit different. At the beginning of the pandemic, these two and their pup, Quinn, found themselves living in bustling Los Angeles and desiring a little more freedom that the city offered. Geoff & Avalon decided to make their first big move together up to Cambria, California, San Luis Obispo’s quiet gem of a coastal town.
Geoff & Avalon settled into a slower-paced life together on the Central Coast, getting used to more peace and the adventure of working remotely in the same space. During this season they also fought Avalon’s newfound health problems together. It was in the midst of this season that the two realized they were truly meant to take on life’s highs and lows together.
On a breezy fall evening, Geoff & Avalon set out for Fiscalini Ranch’s gorgeous bluff trail together and got engaged, reading each other letters and walking into their new stage of life in their new home. Shortly following this sweet, intimate evening, the two shared their vision for their Cambria engagement session with us, and we instantly fell in love with the evening we were about to share.
As 2020 went, we faced a number of obstacles in planning Geoff & Avalon’s Cambria engagement session, from uncooperative weather to illness. We finally got to meet these two in December, and we had the best evening. These two could not stress enough that they were “awkward” and weren’t sure how their gentle, introverted nature was going to make for stunning photos. The biggest blessing of this session’s postponement was that we got to prepare well for it!
We began the session in the stunning forest at Fiscalini Ranch and we quickly showed these two cute humans that “awkward” was no longer a word to describe them. This is one of our favorite parts of photo sessions, when we get to reassure our couples they aren’t here to look like all the models they see on Instagram & Pinterest. We love jumping into these special hours by helping our couples feel like themselves.
After walking all over this gorgeous forest, we headed out to the bluff trail, right where these two got engaged in the first place! The setting sun provided the most beautiful light, and we took all kinds of epic photos with the dramatic cliffs jutting out into the Pacific Ocean. A Cambria engagement session would not be complete without a trip to Moonstone Beach, and we headed over to the rocky beach just as the sun was making its final descent.
As the chilly evening breeze rolled in, Geoff & Avalon cuddled for warmth and we got to witness the most colorful sunset we’d seen in a while. This evening was so perfect and full of laughter. We are so excited for these two and the future they have together!!
