For Maliah & Layne, having their wedding in their hometown, on the ranch she grew up on, was the most perfect way to celebrate their whole story together!

Maliah & Layne grew up in New Cuyama and met and dated in high school before heading their separate ways. A few years later, Layne joined the military, and he and Maliah rekindled their relationship just before he deployed. This time, they didn’t go their separate ways, and have been together ever since, living out in Texas with their son and dogs.

Upon meeting Maliah and Layne for the first time, it became clear that these two are about their people, and over time they’ve forged deep relationships with so many people who make up their circle of friends and family. Knowing this, it made so much more sense why they chose to do their wedding the way they did.

Maliah’s childhood home, a ranch nestled in the rolling hills of New Cuyama, California, was transformed with months of hard work by their friends and family, into one of the most stunning wedding venues we’d seen. Family members chipped in from all sides, building their stunning ceremony arch, the bar for the reception, a photobooth backdrop, and even towing in an old house that was set to be demolished on a neighboring ranch for the dance floor.

Maliah and her bridesmaids got ready for the day in her grandmother’s house, and Layne and his groomsmen got ready in her father’s house, all on the property. Friends and family came in with their RVs and tents, and set up the most Coachella-looking car camping area I’ve ever seen. It was so evident how important these two are to their people, as loved ones ventured in from near and far to truly spend the weekend celebrating them. The atmosphere was already electric, and we knew we were in store for a fun evening.
