A Biergarten Wedding at The White Barn | Karlee & Wyatt
We absolutely love when our couples forego tradition and incorporate their story and personalities into their wedding day.
For Karlee & Wyatt, that decision was easy. These two met at Cal Poly and had their first date at the Madonna Inn (more on that later), but the turning point in their love story didn’t happen until after they left San Luis Obispo. Wyatt graduated a few years ahead of Karlee, and started a career in the bay area while she continued studying architecture in SLO. When the time came for her year abroad, Wyatt opted to join Karlee in Munich. It was during this year of living in a tiny flat in Germany and traveling the world together, Karlee and Wyatt decided they’d like to spend the rest of their lives together.
Fast forward to present time, post graduation, engagement, and a move to Colorado, when Karlee and Wyatt began planning their San Luis Obispo wedding, back in the very place their relationship began. They chose the stunning White Barn in Edna Valley as their venue (round of applause), and decided to incorporate the very important German season of their love story into their overall wedding theme. These two set out on a mission to transform the SLO White Barn into a biergarten straight out of Oktoberfest, and boy did they do great.
The day began getting ready at one of the White Barn’s farmhouses for the girls, and at the Madonna Inn for the guys. Wanting to feature the location of their first date in their timeline, Karlee & Wyatt shared their first look at Madonna Inn, in front of the iconic sign. Before heading back to the White Barn, they exchanged private vows and took a few photos on one of Madonna’s many spiral staircases.
After an afternoon drive through the Edna Valley, Karlee & Wyatt joined all their people for their wedding ceremony and reception at the White Barn. Karlee’s overall vision for the day, in addition to the biergarten look, was to replicate a summer sunset in her table decor and flowers. Their wedding arch, overlooking the vineyards of Edna Valley, was accented by an array of orange, yellow, pink, and red flowers, perfectly complimented by black and white signage, bronze bridesmaids dresses, and black tuxes for the guys. After a particularly hilarious wedding ceremony, the real party began.
Guests made their way to the White Barn’s spacious patio, where Beda’s Biergarten served up boots full of beer and pretzels, of course. After a traditional German dinner, Karlee & Wyatt’s friends’ band lit up the dance floor with a cover set that ran late into the night. As every Cal Poly grad must do, a post-wedding trip to the bars in downtown San Luis Obispo was a must, and Karlee & Wyatt rounded out their stunning day with a night on the town.
