A Christian Wedding at Fallen Oaks Estate | Abby & Dave

Abby & Dave’s Cal Poly love story actually began long before they moved to San Luis Obispo—

These two actually went to high school together, grew up in similar church circles, and called themselves friends long before they both fatefully chose to attend Cal Poly for college. As Dave’s mom described in her toast to the newlyweds, she got to witness the moment they began seeing each other as more than “just friends.” Leaving everything you know and entering the bright new world that is college can be a terrifying thing, but luckily, these two had each other to face it alongside.

Abby and Dave and their families attended Cal Poly’s open house weekend the spring before they moved to SLO, and this was the weekend they decided they’d be on each other’s side as they began college. However, it was clear to everyone watching that this might include the two dating, rather than just as friends. Fast forward to the summer after graduation, when they returned to San Luis Obispo, this time having decided they’d be by each other’s side for the rest of their lives.

Falling in love with each other rather quickly as they faced adversity together, Abby and Dave both got to recount the conversation they had early in their relationship during their personal vows. Dave told Abby that, even though they were about as polar opposite of human beings as it gets, all he could see in those early days was them growing old together. From that very moment, they began intentionally pursuing marriage to each other, hopping into close-knit church circles and gathering friends around them who would grow and shape them over the next four years.

And then we- that same group of friends, family, bible study leaders, and us- got to gather at Fallen Oaks Estate in Paso Robles to celebrate how far they’d come, and how far they will go as they walk out the rest of life together. It was a gorgeous, sunny day in August as everyone they loved gathered under one of Fallen Oaks’ massive oak trees for a beautiful Christ-centered ceremony, officiated by Abby and Dave’s college bible study leader. The ceremony featured so much prayer, a worship set, personal vows, and communion shared between the couple and everyone there. Abby and Dave chose to, first and foremost, honor God and all He’d done to help them reach this point, with their marriage. It was so, so beautiful.

After the ceremony, we were treated to a stunning golden sunset, toasts by Abby and Dave’s parents and best friends, and some tasty barbecue before we moved the party to the carriage house at Fallen Oaks Estate. Abby and Dave and literally every single one of their people danced long into the night. Lots of people ended up on each other’s shoulders, and an absolutely electric performance of “Jet Black Heart” by Five Seconds of Summer captured the attention and voices of everyone in attendance (Abby was in the music video in high school, and everyone in her life honored that by belting every word to the song, incredible). We wrapped the evening with a dried flower grand exit before these two drove off into forever.
